Lowe's three goals help No. 3 Princeton foil No. 5 Virginia, 14-6

WASHINGTON — CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Kevin Lowe scored three goals and dished out five assists as third-ranked Princeton downed fifth-ranked Virginia, 14-6, yesterday at Scott Stadium.

The Tigers (2-0) jumped to a 5-0 lead after one quarter by scoring on four of their first eight shots. Attackman Lowe scored twice in the quarter and assisted on two others.

% Virginia fell to 1-1.

Duke 12, Brown 11

Scott Harrison scored seven goals as No. 9 Duke (4-1) defeated No. 10 Brown (1-1) in the Lax World Faceoff Classic at Loyola College.

Five Blue Devils scored single goals -- Jim Gonella, James Heavey, Ross Moscatelli, Bob Carpenter and Ken Fasanaro.

Georgetown 15, Notre Dame 8

WASHINGTON -- Junior attackman Chris Remington led a balanced scoring effort with two goals and three assists as 14th-ranked Georgetown (2-0) defeated Notre Dame (2-1)

at Kehoe Field.

Delaware 17, Army 8

NEWARK, Del.

NEWARK, Del. -- Tom Stamos and Brad Glowaki scored four goals apiece as 20th-ranked Delaware ran off 10 straight goals in the second half to post a nonleague victory over No. 16 Army (1-1) at Glasgow High School Stadium.

The game site was moved from the Delaware campus because of wet field conditions.

The Blue Hens (1-1) had nine players score goals, as freshman J. J. Arline and junior Brock Livington each added two scores. Ryan Kelly, Adam Allan, Eric Doust and Erik Brine each scored once.

Salisbury 11, Ohio W'yan 10

SALISBURY

SALISBURY -- Jason Coffman, assisted by Dod Poe, broke a tie with six seconds left to lift Salisbury State (3-0) over Ohio Wesleyan (1-1).

Coffman scored one goal in each period, except the second, when he had two. The Sea Gulls led 7-4 and outshot Wesleyan by 12 at the half. Ohio Wesleyan staged a comeback in the third period by scoring five goals.

Va. Wesleyan 14, Goucher 9

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Mike Marchetti scored a school-record nine goals and handed out three assists as Lynchburg (3-1) defeated Western Maryland (0-1).

Chris Morrison (Calvert Hall) made 18 saves for the Hornets. Western Maryland's Marc Brunco had 25.

Hofstra 14, Michigan State 5

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Andy Carlson and Dan DiNardo each scored four goals, as Hofstra took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and cruised past Michigan State.

Harford CC 14, Suffolk CC 10

Dan Hurley, John Monar and Drew Swentzel each registered a hat trick to lead host Harford Community College (1-0) past Suffolk CC (0-1) in a National JuCo League game.
