John Carroll students receive thespian honors

John Carroll students were recently recognized with several awards and honors at the Maryland Thespian Festival.

Seniors Larry Noto, Michelle Kanotz and Brian Vollmer, and the John Carroll Theatre group received several awards and honors, which recognized excellent work and talent of young thespians across Maryland.

Larry Noto, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Noto of Bel Air, was one of six recipients of a Maryland State Thespian scholarship. More than 80 students auditioned for this award.

Michelle Kanotz and Larry Noto received an award of excellence for "Best Characterization in a Scene." Michelle is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William M. Kanotz of Baldwin,

Brian Vollmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Vollmer Jr. of Bel Air, received an award of excellence for "Best Character Acting" in a mainstage production. Michelle Kanotz and Brian Vollmer were also named All-State Thespians.

The John Carroll Theatre was chosen to take its production of "Snoopy" to the International Thespian Festival in Muncie, Ind. Only two productions from this festival were selected for this honor.
