Volunteer work: Mrs. Fulmer-Davis, a member of the Hospice of the Chesapeake Auxiliary, is chairwoman for the third annual St. Patrick's Day Party, an important fund-raiser for the hospice.

About the volunteer: A real estate agent at the O'Conor, Piper and Flynn office in Severna Park, Mrs. Fulmer-Davis said her sister's experience with a hospice 10 years ago showed her the value of hospice care.

Mrs. Fulmer-Davis, who moved here from Philadelphia nine years ago, has been active in the Hospice Auxiliary for six years. She is a past president of the group.

Volunteer's comment: "The camaraderie and warmth in the auxiliary is what keeps me involved with this."

Ms. Fulmer-Davis said the party will be "a lot of fun. We have a traditional Irish meal and a very nice silent auction this year with some weekend vacation trips offered, a cruise and many nice things. There's dancing by a local group from the Kelly School of Irish Dance in Crownsville and singing."

"We [the auxiliary] are involved with fund raising; that's all we do. We have food booths at two Annapolis boat shows, a golf tournament sponsored by the Bank of Glen Burnie and other activities throughout the year. And the auxiliary requests that funds go directly to patient care."

About the event: The Auxiliary's St. Patrick's Day dance and party is from 6 p.m to 11 p.m. Thursday at Michael's Eight Avenue in Glen Burnie. Tickets are $30 per person. Dress is casual.
