Missing police dog found near Manchester home

March 10, 1994

Rex is no longer AWOL.

The Baltimore Police Department K-9 dog, partner of Officer David Gobin, was found yesterday after being missing for two days in the wooded area near his Manchester home.

Rex was allowed out of his Carroll County home to exercise about 11:30 p.m. Sunday and apparently picked up the scent of an animal, which he chased into the woods.

When the calls from Officer Gobin failed to bring the German shepherd home, a missing dog report was made with state police.

On Tuesday evening, Officer Gobin found his companion near their Manchester home, police said. Rex is now back on duty in Baltimore -- and back on a leash.
