Man assaults sub shop clerk in robbery attempt

An employee of a Glen Burnie fast-food restaurant reported to police that a man punched her in the face and tried to rob the restaurant Tuesday night.

According to the police report, the clerk at the Subway Sub Shop in the 7900 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. was making a sandwich for a customer at 7:40 p.m. The customer suddenly jumped over the counter, punched her in the face and tried to open the cash register, police said.

The clerk ran from the store and called the police. The customer did not get any money out of the register, police said.
