A 16-year-old Annapolis youth has been arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer and possession of cocaine and marijuana.
According to police reports, the youth was seen selling drugs in Eastport Terrace about 9:40 p.m. Thursday. When police tried to arrest him, he fled, dropping several plastic bags.
One officer caught up with the youth, but he grabbed her collar and struggled until a second officer sprayed him in the face with pepper spray. The youth was treated at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Police found $600 in his pocket.
They also recovered 17 bags of crack cocaine and a packet of marijuana laced with PCP, all valued at $1,700. The youth was turned over to juvenile services.
