Fire in North Laurel damages apartments

March 07, 1994

A one-alarm fire caused nearly $100,000 in damage to two units in a North Laurel apartment complex Friday afternoon, Howard fire and rescue officials said.

No injuries were reported but 10 people were displaced.

The residents were being cared for by the Red Cross, friends and relatives, said Battalion Chief Donald Howell.

About 40 firefighters from Howard and Anne Arundel counties and Laurel responded to the 12:51 pm. blaze at the Whiskey Bottom apartments.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, which burned from a ground apartment and spread upward to the roof within an hour, Chief Howell said.

Investigators had not determined the cause of the blaze.
