Overlea stops Aberdeen in 2A North semi, 79-74

The combination of Troy Williams and Shawnte Dukes produced 59 points as second-seeded and host Overlea edged third-seeded Aberdeen, 79-74, in a Class 2A North Regional semifinal game.

Williams, a sophomore small forward, scored 29 and hit five of six free throws in the fourth quarter as Overlea (15-5) distanced itself from the Eagles, which closed within 74-72.

Senior point guard Shawnte Dukes scored a game-high 30 and knocked down four three-pointers for the Falcons. Senior center Toby Jordan scored a team-high 20 for Aberdeen (14-6).

Overlea travels to No. 16 and top-seeded Edgewood tonight at 7 for the regional final.

* C. Milton Wright 56, Dundalk 55: Chris Rueckert scored 15 as third-seeded and visiting C. Milton Wright defeated second-seeded Dundalk in a double overtime in a Class 3A North semifinal. The Mustangs visit Randallstown in the region final today at 7 p.m.

C. Milton Wright's Brian King hit a jumper to send the game to a first overtime at 44-44. Dundalk's Danny Thrope scored on a layup to send it to another overtime at 49-49.

* Randallstown 63, Franklin 45: Junior D.J. Ward and sophomore Troy Lewis scored 18 each to lead top-seeded and host Randallstown (16-6) past fourth-seeded Franklin (9-10) in a Class 3A North Region semifinal game.

Ward also added 12 rebounds for the Rams.

Randallstown will play host to third-seeded C.M. Wright today at 7 p.m.

* Sparrows Point 54, Joppatowne 53: Will Marshall had 19 points as second-seeded Sparrows Point (15-3) edged Joppatowne in a Class 1A North Regional semifinal game.

A three-point basket by Joppatowne was waved off by officials because of a traveling violation with two seconds to play.

The Pointers will play top-seeded Milford Mill, which defeated Northeast, today at 7 p.m. at Owings Mills.
