Towson falls to Liberty rally, 71-59

RADFORD, VA. — LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Sophomore forward Tasha Woods scored eight of her 10 points during a decisive 16-3 run, and Liberty University rallied to beat Towson State, 71-59, in a Big South Conference game last night.

Liberty (12-13, 9-8), which had beaten the Tigers (15-10, 10-8) in overtime at the Towson Center last month, used the 16-3 spurt to overcome a 39-33 deficit and take a 49-42 lead with nine minutes remaining.

Senior Shannon Ward led the Tigers with 20 points and senior Danielle Barry had 18 for the Tigers, who had won seven of their past eight games.

Wood was one of five Liberty players to score in double figures. Junior Angie Johnson and freshman Erin Wall each scored 12 points, and freshman Michelle Wyms had 11 points. Junior Anna Barrington added 10 points for the Flames.

Radford 81, UMBC 47

RADFORD, Va. -- Shannan Wilkey had 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead Radford (15-10, 12-5) past UMBC (14-11, 12-5) in a Big South game.

Nikki Tinsley led UMBC with 15 points.

The win puts Radford in a three-way tie for first in the conference with UMBC and UNC-Greensboro.

Moravian 85, Johns Hopkins 76


BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Sue Zimmerman scored 25 points to lead Moravian (20-7) past Johns Hopkins (16-9) in the semifinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference tournament.

Amy Bodrill led the Blue Jays with 32 points on 12-of-18 shooting from the field.
