Gunman robs man, 41, in fast-food restaurant

A 41-year-old Columbia man was held up in the restroom of an Owen Brown fast-food restaurant Monday, police said.

The victim was in a Roy Rogers men's room in the 7200 block of Cradlerock Way at 2:20 p.m. when the suspect threatened him with an automatic weapon, ordered him to turn over cash and then instructed him not to leave the room.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and fled in a late model Mustang or a Thunderbird with tinted windows and an out-of-state temporary tag. The victim was not injured, police said.

Board members sought for Helping Hands group

The Helping Hands Enrichment and Leadership Foundation, a nonprofit community-based organization dedicated to instilling self-esteem, cultural diversity and an appreciation for education in county students, is seeking residents to serve on its board of directors.

Board members are needed to help the foundation expand its Saturday and summer school programs.
