March 02, 1994

Firefighters from Howard and Prince George's counties battled a one-alarm fire at an unoccupied home in North Laurel yesterday afternoon.

The four stations responding to the fire in the 9400 block of North Laurel Road at 3 p.m. yesterday encountered flames coming from the windows and the rooftop of a single-family home, said Battalion Chief Donald Howell, of the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

Firefighters had contained the blaze by 3:30 p.m. and were still on the scene an hour later. Fire officials were investigating the cause of the blaze and were attempting to locate the home's owners, Chief Howell said.
