Patterson girls get first playoff win

Senior 6-foot-2 center Jacqueline Wilkes scored a team-high 22 as sixth-seeded Patterson upset third-seeded and host Dulaney, 55-46, in a Class 4A North Region first-round girls basketball game yesterday. It was the Clippers' first win in the state playoffs.

Junior guard Lisa Rutledge had a game-high 23 for Dulaney (13-5), which came within three of the Clippers with three minutes remaining.

The Clippers (13-10), winners of four straight, scored only one point from the free-throw line, but made 27 of 59 (45.7 percent) field goals. Freshman guard Anita Hyman contributed 10 for Patterson, which advances to face No. 5 and second-seeded Lake Clifton tomorrow night at 7.

* Patapsco 54, Lansdowne 50: Senior point guard Bobbie Zalewski scored 17 and senior center Melanie Moskowitz added 16 as fifth-seeded Patapsco defeated fourth-seeded and host Lansdowne.

Jamie Schlaich, a senior forward, scored a game-high 19 for the Vikings. The Patriots advance to face No. 10 and top-seeded

* Loch Raven 55, Elkton 52: With a 52-52 score and 1:30 left, junior guard Maura Ling hit a three-pointer to lift Loch Raven (17-5) over Elkton (Cecil) in Class 2A North first-round action.

Loch Raven faces host Towson tomorrow at 7 p.m. in a rematch of last year's semifinals.

* Milford Mill 49, North East 39: Junior guard Kisha Watkins and freshman center Crystal Dent each scored 16 as fourth-seeded and host Milford Mill (11-9) topped North East in a Class 1A North Region first-round game.

The Millers face No. 20 and top-seeded Joppatowne tomorrow at 7 p.m. in a regional semifinal game.

* Bohemia Manor 45, Owings Mills 33: Lisa Hutton led sixth-seeded Bo Manor with 19 as the team beat third-seeded Owings Mills in a Class 1A North first-round game.

Audie Browne added 14 for Manor, which outscored Owings Mills 39-9 in the second half.

Bo Manor plays at Hereford tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the regional semifinals.

* C.M. Wright 52, Dundalk 36: Sophomore Erin Updegrove had 21 and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead third-seeded C.M. Wright (13-6) in a win over six-seeded Dundalk (5-11).

Miranda James added 16 for the Mustangs in the Class 3A North first-round game.

Katie Marsheck led Dundalk with 12. C.M. Wright will play at second-seeded Franklin tomorrow at 7 p.m.

* South River 83, Forest Park 40: Senior center Pam Patterson led all scorers with 26 as South River (11-2) defeated Forest Park in a 2A East Region first-round game. Sophomore point guard Jessica Marion scored 21 and junior guard Cassidie Dunbar added 19.

The Sea Hawks travel to top-seeded Northwestern for tomorrow's regional semifinals at 7 p.m.

* Carver 47, City 25: Vida Milberry scored a game-high 17 and had 15 rebounds as fourth-seeded Carver (12-6) topped fifth-seeded City in a Class 3A East Region first-round game.

Carver plays at No. 16 and top-seeded Poly tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the regional semifinals.
