Hopkins falls in final, 63-61, on follow shot with :03 left

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Junior forward Mike Sievert followed up Dave Jennetta's miss with a basket with three seconds left to lift Franklin & Marshall (25-1) to a 63-61 victory over Johns Hopkins (20-6) in the Centennial Conference championship game last night.

The Diplomats, the No. 1-ranked team in the NCAA Division III Middle Atlantic Region, won their 10th straight and earned the Centennial Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.

Jannetta led the Diplomats with 19 points, including 11 in the first half as F&M took a 34-24 lead at halftime. Charlie Detz added 14 points and Sievert 10 and a team-high nine rebounds.

Frank Grzywacz led the Blue Jays with 19 points. Matt Jennings had 13 and Lou Sabad 12 for Hopkins.
