Port Deposit man robbed at gunpoint

A Port Deposit man told Havre de Grace police that he was hitchhiking about 5 a.m. last Sunday on U.S. 40 at Otsego Street when a man armed with a handgun walked up and demanded his wristwatch and money.

Winfred Yarosh of Belvedere Road said he gave the gunman his $150 Pulsar watch and told the man he had no money.

The thief, who took the watch and ran, was wearing dark pants and a hooded sweat shirt and weighed about 225 pounds.

Belcamp man accused of stabbing co-worker

A 44-year-old Belcamp man was free on $25,000 bond after he was arrested on charges of stabbing a co-worker over alleged racial slurs.

Police said the stabbing victim, Leonard John Makowski, identified John Andrew Owens of the 1300 block of Jervis Square as his attacker.

Mr. Owens is black and Mr. Makowski is white.

Both were employed at the General Electric Co. warehouse in the 4600 block of Appliance Drive, court records indicated.

Sheriff's deputies were called to Riverside Medical Center about 3:30 p.m. Feb. 18, after Mr. Makowski had walked there with head and facial cuts and a stab wounds in his chest.

Mr. Makowski was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was treated and released, police reports said.


* 3500 block of Thomas Pointe Court: Theft of a mirror from a vehicle parked outside a residence Feb. 16. The loss was estimated at $150.


* First block of Bel Air South Parkway: Theft of a purse Feb. 17 from a store at the Festival shopping center. Stolen with the purse were money, checkbook, credit cards, personal identification and medicine. The loss was estimated at $658.

* 1400 block of Conowingo Road: Theft of a trunk lid cover, hood ornament and wheel hub center cap Feb. 16 at the Bel Air Roller Rink parking lot. The loss was estimated at $225.

* 800 block of Baltimore Pike: Theft of wallet, credit cards and jacket at the Bel Air Bowl lanes Feb. 16. The loss was estimated at $122.


* 1200 block of Magness Court: Theft of a briefcase, money and watches from a residence Feb. 10. The loss was estimated at $350.


* 1900 block of Pulaski Highway: Theft of items from Ames Department Store on Feb. 17. The stolen property was recovered and a 12-year-old Edgewood youth was charged and released to a guardian pending action by Juvenile Services. The value of the stolen items was $33.


* 500 block of Summit Drive: Theft of a woman's diamond ring from a residence Feb. 17. The loss was estimated at $8,500.


* 900 block of Rumsey Place: Breaking and entering at a residence Feb. 17. Theft of two video game players and tapes. The loss was estimated at $280.
