Timely discounts await those who can plan ahead

It's not too early to start planning summer travel, and some companies are trying to encourage this by offering early-booking discounts.

LeSPORT on St. Lucia and LaSOURCE on Grenada, both all-inclusive beachfront resorts, are offering $500 off the cost of a seven-night stay for two if reservations are made by April 5 for travel now until July 5. Prediscount, a seven-night stay is $3,360 to $4,130 per couple at LaSOURCE and up to $4,340 at LeSPORT. Information: (800) 544-2883.

Rendezvous, an all-inclusive couples resort on St. Lucia, is offering $355 off the cost of a seven-night stay for two, also for bookings made before April 5 for travel now until July 5. Prediscount, seven nights run $2,570 to $3,420. Information: (800) 544-2883.

The 220-year-old Equinox in Manchester Village, Vt. -- a AAA Four Diamond hotel and a member of the Historic Hotels of

America -- is offering discounts on a shopping package (including discounts at Manchester's designer outlets and antiques stores) from March 1 to May 27 and on all midweek stays. The Kemwel Group Inc. will offer low advance rates for European car rentals booked and paid for by April 2. Prices begin at $15 a day for a three-day-minimum rental with unlimited mileage. Royal Cruise Line is offering an Early Payment Supersaver Plan, with discounts on its already discounted Early Bird fares. Early Bird fares, available for early reservations, can knock 10 to 50 percent off the price of a cruise. Information: Contact a travel agent.
