BLUE Cross and Blue Shield of Maryland, which has never inspired us with its ability to keep things straight, has sent out a "summary of benefits that have been paid by your health care plan from April 1, 1993 to December 31, 1993."

BTC Two of the items listed are for services provided by the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in 1992 -- $1,497.36 billed for a procedure in August, $3,698.03 billed for surgery in November. "Your cost" for both procedures: .00. Amount paid by Blue Cross to GBMC: $98,501.64 for the first procedure, $96,300.97 for the surgery.

If we were GBMC, we'd keep our mouth shut.
