Cincinnati Reds -- Signed 1B Doug Jennings and assigned him to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Florida Marlins -- Named Donald Smiley president. He had been VP of sales and marketing.

Houston Astros -- Agreed to terms with P Darryl Kile (15-8, 3.51 ERA) and C Eddie Taubensee (.250, 9 HRs, 42 RBIs) on one-year contracts.

Los Angeles Dodgers -- Signed P Jose Parra to a one-year contract.

Milwaukee Brewers -- Agreed to terms with P Marshall Boze, P Tyrone Hill, P Francisco Gamez, OF Duane Singleton, OF Derek Wachter and C Mike Stefanski.

Minnesota Twins -- Acquired P Shawn Bryant (10-5, 3.72 ERA in Double-A) from the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named. Designated IF Gary Scott for assignment.

Pittsburgh Pirates -- Announced that Bob Walk has retired and will join the broadcast team.

Basketball

Minnesota Timberwolves -- Suspended F Christian Laettner for yesterday's game for disciplinary reasons. Signed G Corey Williams to a 10-day contract. Placed G Stanley Jackson on the injured list.

Utah Jazz -- Signed C Darren Morningstar to a 10-day contract.

Baldwin-Wallace -- Named John Snell offensive backfield coach and recruiting coordinator.

NHL -- Suspended Los Angeles Kings D Marty McSorley, pending a review of an eye-gouging incident against the San Jose Sharks' Bob Errey on Feb. 19. Named Detroit Red Wings C Steve Yzerman Player of the Week.

Chicago Blackhawks -- Recalled RW Sergei Krivokrasov from IHL Indianapolis.

Los Angeles Kings -- Signed C Wayne Gretzky to a three-year contract.

Montreal Canadiens -- Transferred the rights of G Frederic Chabot to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Quebec Nordiques -- Traded G John Tanner to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim for a fourth-round pick in the 1995 draft.

St. Louis Blues -- Recalled C Tony Hrkac from IHL Peoria under emergency conditions to replace the injured Craig Janney. Announced that D Phil Housley (back) has been given clearance to begin light skating today.

Toronto Maple Leafs -- Acquired G Pat Jablonski from the Tampa Bay Lightning for future considerations.

Washington Capitals -- Recalled G Olaf Kolzig from AHL Portland.
