Annapolis girl, 14, charged in stabbing

A 14-year-old Annapolis girl has been charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of a 20-year-old woman.

The victim, April Norris of the 1800 block of Bowman Drive, was walking with a friend near her home about 11 p.m. Friday when the girl approached and threatened her, according to police reports.

The girl pulled out a knife, and Ms. Norris attempted to flee, but slipped on ice and fell, police said. The girl stabbed her in the head and fled. Ms. Norris and her friend chased the girl into a house, but the girl escaped by jumping from a second-floor bedroom window, police said.

She later was arrested and charged. Her name was being withheld because she is a juvenile. She was treated at Anne Arundel Medical Center for a possible broken leg received when jumping out the window.

Ms. Norris also was treated at the hospital and released.
