Rucker, Gibbons rout Curley, 85-49

Jerard Rucker scored a game-high 23 points and pulled down five rebounds, leading No. 8 Cardinal Gibbons (22-6, 10-2) past host Archbishop Curley (2-18, 2-10), 85-49, yesterday in a nonleague game.

Gibbons led by 11 at halftime. Rick Fuller contributed 14 points and six rebounds and Steve Wojciechowski had 12 points.

* Calvert Hall 68, Mount St. Joseph 45: Gerald Spann scored 17 and John McKay added 14 as Calvert Hall (16-10, 8-4) downed visiting Mount St. Joseph (8-13, 3-8) in a Catholic League game. The Cardinals reversed a three-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Gaels, 47-21, in the second half.

* Loyola 74, Towson Catholic 61: Senior forward Tim O'Hara led all scorers with 18 as host Loyola (11-15,3-8) downed Towson Catholic (2-10, 1-8) in a Catholic League game.

Jason Fink led Towson Catholic with 17 points. Junior guard Jared Clelan scored all of his 17 points in the third quarter -- including five three-pointers.

Girls basketball

* St. Mary's 70, Seton Keough-C 49: Annetta Davis scored a game-high 25 as No. 3 St. Mary's (21-2, 12-0) routed No. 12 Seton Keough (15-6, 9-3) in a Catholic League game.

Kristin Miller contributed 14 for the host Saints, who outscored the Gators 23-6 from the foul line.
