Goucher men clinch title, 98-75

Chad Beeten and Predrag Durkovic each scored 23 points, leading host Goucher over Catholic, 98-75, yesterday to secure its first Capital Athletic Conference regular-season title.

Goucher (15-9, 8-4) has a first-round bye in the CAC tournament quarterfinals. The Gophers will play host to the St. Mary's-Gallaudet winner Thursday at 8 in the semifinals.

Goucher went on an 8-0 run in the second half to take a 65-52

lead with 14:13 left. Catholic (9-14, 6-6) rallied to within 70-64 at the 9:27 mark, but Goucher went on a 20-4 run to make it 90-68 with 4:39 left.

Junior guard Gerard Garlic added 20 points for Goucher. Junior forward John Douglas led Catholic with 19.
