Annapolis man charged with drug possession

An 18-year-old Annapolis man was arrested on drug charges Thursday as he was leaving an Athletic Warehouse store in the 7400 block of Candlewood Road in Harmans, county police said.

Police waited outside the store for Rico Medley, of Bloomsbury Square, whom they said was wanted on outstanding arrest warrants.

Two officers stopped Mr. Medley as he left the store shortly before 6 p.m. and searched him.

They said they found 41 grams of crack cocaine, with a street value of nearly $4,700, in his right front pants pocket. Police field-tested the drugs.

Mr. Medley was charged with possession and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.

Mr. Medley is being held on $50,000 bail on the drug charges and on $1,000 bail on some previous traffic charges, a spokeswoman for the District Court said.

Man steals cash at convenience store

A man who displayed no weapon took an undetermined amount of money from the cash register of a 7-Eleven store in the 2600 block of Annapolis Road early Friday, county police said.

The store clerk told police that a man came in about 2 a.m. and asked for change.

When the clerk opened the cash register, the man grabbed a small amount of cash, police said.

The clerk grabbed the man, who then grabbed even more cash from the register, tore free and fled to a car that apparently was waiting for him in the parking lot.
