Frederick Community College raises tuition 3.3 percent

February 20, 1994

FREDERICK -- Frederick Community College will raise tuition 3.3 percent next year to $62 per semester hour for county residents.

The college board of trustees approved the increase last weeas part of its $14.89 million fiscal 1995 budget. The budget is an increase of 5.4 percent, or $765,000, over fiscal 1994.

Officials said the tuition increase is necessary because the state has repeatedly slashed its financial support since 1990, when tuition was $38 per semester hour.

College officials also announced that M. Robert Ritchie Jr., developer of Holly Hills Country Club, has given more than $100,000 to the school's Children's Center, a child care facility under construction on the campus.
