Poly uses balanced attack to defeat Northwestern, 43-31

Senior forward Kenya Holman scored 11 points as No. 14 Poly defeated host Northwestern, 43-31, in a City-Wide 2A-3A League girls basketball game yesterday.

Five players scored six or more points for Poly (17-2).

Sophomore forward Michelle Hurt and freshman Keisha Todd had nine points apiece to lead Northwestern.

* Mount Hebron 74, Atholton 29: The backcourt of senior Emily Yanero and junior Alisha Mosley scored 15 each as No. 6 Mount Hebron (12-6) routed host Atholton.

* Randallstown 70, Dundalk 27: Senior forward Nyota Mitchell scored 19 points to lead No. 7 Randallstown (16-1, 14-0) over host Dundalk (5-9) in a Baltimore County 3A-4A League game. Senior guard Kim Brown scored 15 for the Rams.

* South Carroll 57, North Carroll 37: Junior point guard Amber Clutter scored 18 points and junior center Nicole Spencer added 16 as No. 15 South Carroll (12-5, 4-0) defeated host North Carroll (4-12) in a Carroll County League game.

* Annapolis 83, Meade 30: Senior guard Cristi Samaras had a triple-double with 23 points, 10 steals and 10 assists as No. 16 Annapolis (13-6, 9-4) crushed visiting Meade (3-13) in an Anne Arundel 4A League game.

Senior center Shannon Henderson scored 22 points and pulled down 21 rebounds for the Panthers. Tresa Silcott led Meade with 18 points.

* Arundel 58, Glen Burnie 32: Sophomore guard Shannon Noon scored 10 points as No. 17 Arundel (15-4, 8-3) downed visiting Glen Burnie (1-18, 0-12) in an Anne Arundel County League game.

Arundel scored Glen Burnie's total by halftime with a 32-12 lead. Bridgett Davis led Glen Burnie with 11. Sophomore forward Chavonne Hammond had five points and five rebounds.

* Dulaney 61, Parkville 35: Junior guard Lisa Rutledge scored 22 points as Dulaney ran past host Parkville (2-13) in a Baltimore County 3A-4A League game. Senior point

guard Beth Allen totaled 11 for the Lions.

Dulaney took control by scoring 19 of the game's first 20 points. Sophomore forward Latanya Jones led Parkville with 16.

* Woodlawn 57, Patapsco 33: Senior center Avareena Schools scored 27 points to lead visiting Woodlawn past Patapsco in a Baltimore County 3A-4A League game.

* Hereford 51, Pikesville 32: Junior Nancy Zentz scored 19 points and junior Melinda Sawyer added 15 as host Hereford (9-5, 9-5) beat Pikesville in a Baltimore County 1A-2A League game.

* City 49, Douglass 25: Sophomore Lanea Rogers scored 15 points to lead host City (11-7, 8-4) past Douglass in a City-Wide 2A-3A League game.

* Patterson 63, Southwestern 31: Junior forward Nichole Jones scored a game-high 25 points to lead visiting Patterson (10-10, 6-6) past Southwestern (1-12, 1-12) in a Baltimore City 4A League game. Jackie Wilkes and Shunte Dunn each scored 16 for the Clippers.

* Broadneck 42, Northeast 39: Julie Barr scored 13 points as Broadneck (11-8, 3-0) defeated Northeast in an Anne Arundel 2A-3A league game. Jamie Pleyo scored 12 for Northeast.

* Chesapeake-AA 49, North County 41: Junior point guard Sandra Norris scored 15 points as Chesapeake-AA (12-6, 9-6) downed visiting North County (6-10) in an Anne Arundel 4A League game. Senior forward Megan Van Wambeke contributed points and nine rebounds for the Cougars.

* South River 49, Southern-AA 45: Senior forward Chiara Lee hit a three-pointer while being fouled with three seconds left and made the free throw to lift the Seahawks (8-11, 2-1) over visiting Southern-AA (6-11, 0-4) in an Anne Arundel County League game.

Senior center Pam Patterson led South River with 17 points. Leketia Mullen led the Bulldogs with 14.
