POLICE

* Westminster: Eight vehicles, parked at various shopping centers in Westminster, were broken into Tuesday and Wednesday, and items were taken, police reported yesterday.

The damage and losses totaled almost $1,400, police said.

Two of the vehicles were parked at the 140 Village Shopping Center Wednesday when someone broke a window and stole property worth $200 from one and tampered with the ignition of the second car, causing about $260 in damage.

The owners of six vehicles parked at Cranberry Mall on Tuesday found when they returned to their cars that they had been broken into, police said.

The windows of three vehicles were shattered, and three doors were forced open. One had been left unlocked, police said. Articles valued at $736 were taken, police said.

BTC Also in Westminster, an official of the Flea Market on Locust Lane reported that someone stole $40 worth of merchandise Wednesday.

A resident of East Main Street reported that someone entered her unlocked apartment and took $20 Wednesday.

FIRE

* Westminster: Westminster and Reese units responded to a fire alarm on Mall Ring Road at Cranberry Mall at 4:32 p.m. Thursday. Units were out for eight minutes.
