A 16-year-old Severn youth was arrested and charged Wednesday afternoon with possession with intent to distribute seven plastic bags of crack cocaine, police said.
The youth was arrested about 4 p.m. by two officers who had followed him to a house in the 1800 block of Arwell Court. The officers were acting on a tip from an informant who said the youth was wanted for failure to appear in court.
The officers entered the house after the door "swung open" when one of them knocked on it, police said. They saw the youth in the kitchen and asked him to come into the living room and take his hands out of his pockets.
As the youth complied, the officers said, they saw two small bags fall to the floor. They arrested the youth, searched him and found five more plastic bags in his pockets and $40, police said. All the bags contained a solid, off-white substance that was field tested and found to be crack cocaine, police said.
