California Angels -- Agreed to terms with IF Ernest Riles on a minor-league contract.

Chicago White Sox -- Agreed to terms with P Terry Leach on a minor-league contract and invited him to spring training as a nonroster player.

Houston Astros -- P Al Osuna (3-1, 4.50 ERA) lost his arbitration case and was awarded a 1994 salary of $375,000; he had asked for $975,000.

Kansas City Royals -- Announced that the No. 20 worn by 2B Frank White, an eight-time Gold Glove winner, will be retired Sept. 3.

Los Angeles Dodgers -- Signed P Todd Williams, OF Henry Rodriguez and OF Raul Mondesi.

Minnesota Twins -- Signed OF Alex Cole to a minor-league contract and invited him to spring training as a nonroster player.

Montreal Expos -- Agreed to terms with P Gil Heredia and OF Glenn Murray on one-year contracts.

New York Yankees -- Agreed to terms with IF Dave Silvestri on a one-year contract.

L Philadelphia Phillies -- Named Dick Allen roving instructor.

San Diego Padres -- Agreed to terms with OF Phil Plantier (34 homers, 100 RBIs) on a two-year contract believed to be worth between $2 million and $3 million.

Texas Rangers -- Agreed to terms with P Kevin Brown on a one-year contract.

Charlotte Hornets -- Signed F Tim Kempton to a 10-day contract.

Chicago Bulls -- Placed F Toni Kukoc (lower back) on the injured list. Activated F Stacey King from the injured list.

Phoenix Suns -- Activated F Charles Barkley and G Danny Ainge from the injured list. Placed F Jerrod Mustaf (Maryland) and former Washington Bullets G Frank Johnson on the injured list.

Sacramento Kings -- Acquired C Olden Polynice and F David Wood from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for C Duane Causwell and second-round draft picks in 1994, 1995, and 1996. Waived F Evers Burns (Maryland).

NCAA -- Named Elaine Dreidame, Dayton senior associate AD, chairwoman of the Special Committee to Study Rules Federation by Sport.

NFL Management Council -- Named Peter Hadhazy director of labor operations.

Detroit Lions -- Announced the resignation of offensive line coach Jerry Wampfler.

dTC New Orleans Saints -- Agreed to terms with LB Renaldo Turnbull on a five-year contract.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats (CFL) -- Signed DL Richard Fischer, OL Peter Gisborn and WR Nigel Williams. Named John Salavantis assistant coach.

NHL -- Suspended Los Angeles Kings LW Tony Granato for 15 games without pay and fined him $500 for a slashing incident against Chicago Blackhawks D Neil Wilkinson on Feb. 9. Suspended Florida Panthers G Mark Fitzpatrick two games for high-sticking New York Islanders LW David Maley on Saturday.

Washington Capitals -- Signed D Sergei Gonchar to a two-year contract.

Horse racing Santa Anita Park -- Suspended Chris McCarron five days for careless riding.
