Man hurt after falling off ladder

An 18-year-old Manchester man was injured after falling about 25 feet while cleaning snow from the roof of the Carroll Indoor Sports Center yesterday.

Christopher Brian Dinge of the 200 block of Deep Run Road was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Information on his condition was not available.

Mr. Dinge said he was on a ladder cleaning snow over the door and walkway to the center when he slipped and fell, state police reported.

The injured man told medics he landed on his feet and suffered lower back pains.

Mr. Dinge, who works for the building's owner, was conscious when he was placed in the state police helicopter on the parking lot of the center in the 500 block of Old Westminster Pike.

POLICE

* Westminster: An employee of Forget Me Not Florist in the first block of E. Main St. told city police someone stole her purse from a rear room of the business Tuesday. She said the purse contained $143.

An official of Grace Lutheran Church on Carroll Street told police that someone stole a Portland videocassette recorder from the church Monday. The loss was estimated at $150.

A Pennsylvania Avenue resident told city police that someone broke the ignition of his vehicle, apparently during an attempt to steal the car, while the vehicle was parked near his house Monday. He estimated the damage at $70.

A resident of Hillside Court told city police that someone broke the glass of a sliding door with a pellet or BB gun Feb. 9. She estimated the damage at $214.

* Finksburg: A Middle Run Drive resident told state police someone entered his vehicle and stole a Bell Atlantic cellular telephone Monday. He estimated the loss at $550.
