* Sorrell Booke, 64, who played Jefferson Davis "Boss" Hogg on television's "The Dukes of Hazzard" from 1979 to 1985, died Friday of cancer. He also appeared on "Dr. Kildare" and "All in the Family." His movies included "Black Like Me," "Fail Safe," "What's Up Doc?" and "The Other Side of Midnight."

* Gen. Lucius Clay Jr., 74, a retired four-star Air Force general who had directed Air Force combat operations in Vietnam and later headed the North American Air Defense Command, died Feb. 7 of cardiac arrest and emphysema at Alexandria Hospital in Virginia. In 1973, he was named commander in chief of the North American Air Defense Command and the U.S. Air Force Aerospace Defense Command, making him responsible for the air defense of the North American continent.
