Budget hearing tonight

February 15, 1994

Residents who have ideas for the 1995 county budget will have a chance to present them to County Executive Robert R. Neall tonight at Meade Senior High School.

County department heads will be available to meet individually with residents at 6:30 p.m., and Mr. Neall will be there at 7:30 p.m. to discuss additions and deletions to his spending plan.

Mr. Neall will hold two other hearings: Thursday at South River High School and Feb. 24 at Shipley's Choice Elementary School. Individual meetings with department heads will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by the 7:30 p.m. hearing by the county executive.

Planners estimate the 1995 operating budget can rise 7.1 percent. But personnel costs could take up most of the approximately $47 million in new revenue.

Mr. Neall will present his budget to the County Council on May 2. The budget adopted by the council will take effect July 1.

Residents who require assistance are asked to call 222-1825 (TTY) or 222-1288 (voice) five days before the hearing they wish to attend to make arrangements.
