Fire companies respond for steam

Fire equipment from stations in Taneytown, Pleasant Valley, Harney, Union Bridge and Westminster was sent to the new Runnymede Elementary School in the 3000 block of Langdon Road at 8:36 p.m. Tuesday.

A passing motorist, who saw what appeared to be smoke coming from the as-yet unoccupied building, had called the report to 911.

Firefighters discovered no fire, but observed normal steam coming from the building's heating system. Units were out for 36 minutes.
