Two cars in Taylorsville broken into, items stolen

Two automobiles, parked in the 3600 block of Franklinville Road in Taylorsville, were broken into and items estimated at $505 were stolen Saturday, state police at the Westminster barracks reported.

A radar detector valued at $290 was taken from one vehicle and 20 cassette tapes valued at $215 were removed from the second, police said.

FIRE

* Mount Airy: Mount Airy assisted Lisbon of Howard County for a truck fire on Old Frederick Road at 3:04 p.m. Monday. Units were out for 54 minutes.

Mount Airy and Sykesville assisted Howard County for a chimney fire in the 2100 block of Frederick Road at 6:43 a.m. Monday. Units were out for 26 minutes.

Firefighters from Mount Airy responded to an automobile fire in the 4100 block of Baltimore National Pike at 11:22 p.m. Saturday. They were out for 38 minutes.

* Winfield: Winfield responded to a brush fire in the 14000 block of Black Ankle Road at 1:40 p.m. Monday. Units were out for 49 minutes.

Winfield and Lisbon of Howard County responded to a fire alarm in the 1400 block of Buckhorn Road at 7:21 a.m. Monday. Units were out for 15 minutes.

Winfield, Sykesville and Lisbon of Howard County responded to a chimney fire in the 600 block Blanker Road at 8:05 p.m. Saturday. Units were out for 40 minutes.
