SHOOTING: Western District -- A state Department of Corrections officer was at the Mondawmin Mall Saturday evening when he recognized a man who had been incarcerated at the institution where he works. The former inmate pulled out a handgun and fired a shot at the corrections officer. The bullet missed the officer but grazed a passerby, a resident of the 2900 block of Glen Ave., in the chest. The gunman escaped and the wounded man was taken to Sinai Hospital, where he was treated and released. The former inmate was being sought.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A resident of the 2500 block of Edmondson Ave. was in the 1600 block of W. North Ave. Sunday when a gunman robbed him of $10.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Someone entered Super Man's barber shop in the 2300 block of W. North Ave. over the weekend. It was not known if any property was taken.

SHOOTING: Northern District -- A resident of the 400 block of Wrenwood Ave. was about to enter the McDonald's restaurant in the 5100 block of York Road Saturday night when a gunman running out of the restaurant began firing at another man who also was inside the restaurant. The gunman missed his intended target but shot the bystander in the side of the head. Several bullets also hit the victim's van and two cars that were parked on the lot. The gunman and his intended target escaped. The wounded man was taken to Union Memorial Hospital and was listed in good condition.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- A resident of the 2700 block of St. Paul St. was walking in the 100 block of E. 31st St. Saturday when two men shoved him to the ground and robbed him of his credit cards and U.S. and German currency, all valued at nearly $500.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- After allowing two men into his apartment in the 3800 block of Falls Road Saturday night, the occupant was tied up by the men who then stole a VCR, 24 movie tapes and 60 cassette tapes, all valued at nearly $1,400.

STOLEN CAR: Northern District -- A 1985 gray Volkswagen Jetta with Maryland tags VBY343 was stolen from the 3100 block of Taplow Road over the weekend.

STOLEN CAR: Northern District -- Someone stole a 1987 burgundy Buick with Maryland tags XPG798 from the 1000 block of Witherspoon Road Saturday.

STOLEN CAR: Northern District -- A 1989 gray Isuzu with Maryland tags 35B239 was stolen over the weekend from the 2800 block of W. Garrison Ave.

ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- A man who implied he had a handgun robbed the Little Tavern in the 500 block of S. Conkling St. of an undisclosed sum of money Saturday.

STOLEN CAR: Northwestern District -- A 1986 Pontiac Grand Am was stolen from the 4000 block of N. Hilton St. over the weekend. The vehicle's tags were not immediately available.

ASSAULT: Northwestern District -- A resident of the 4500 block of Reisterstown Road was in the 2800 block of Ridgewood Ave. Saturday when he was attacked by two men he knows who struck him with a handgun and their fists. The victim was not seriously injured.

ASSAULT/ARREST: Northwestern District -- Police arrested a man who assaulted a resident of the 5200 block of Cuthert Ave. in the 3400 block of W. Belvedere Ave. Saturday.

Baltimore County

BURGLARY TRY: Parkville District -- Someone attempted to enter a house in the 8500 block of Harris Ave. between Friday and Sunday by forcing a rear door lock with an unknown object but failed. An estimated $25 in damage was done.

VANDALISM: Parkville District -- More than a dozen cars had their side windows or windshields shattered between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. Sunday on four streets between Perring Parkway and Old Harford Road. Police said someone used a blunt object or BB gun to shatter the windows of 16 cars parked on Windsor Road, Wendover Road, Hillcrest Ave. and Queen Anne Drive. Damage to the vehicles was estimated at nearly $2,000.

STOLEN CAR: Towson District -- A blue 1987 Camaro with Maryland tags AFT537 was stolen from the parking lot of Casa Mia, a restaurant in the 1700 block of Taylor Ave., Sunday.

BURGLARY: Towson District -- Someone entered a townhouse in the 100 block of Comet Court over the weekend and stole a refrigerator valued at nearly $300. The appliance was recovered a short distance away in the rear of a truck.
