February 07, 1994

Prince George's County police arrested a 36-year-old woman yesterday in connection with the beating death of a 7-year-old girl yesterday afternoon in Seat Pleasant.

Responding to a call about 4 p.m., police found Jackie Wright of Southeast Washington in a wooded area at the end of Kano Street, suffering from what appeared to be "blunt trauma injuries," said Cpl. Ken Scott, a police department spokesman.

The girl died at Prince George's Hospital Center a short time later, authorities said.

Police said their investigation was continuing, and charges against the woman were pending.

According to police the girl was visiting relatives in Seat Pleasant and had gone for a walk with the woman, a family friend.
