25 Years Ago (Week of Jan. 26-Feb. 1, 1969):

* The Atholton High School PTA sponsored a debate on the proposition, "Non-habit forming drugs and pharmaceuticals should be marketed in the same over-the-counter manner as cigarettes and aspirins."

* Navy Hospitalman Thomas Vincent Rini, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent V. Rini of Ellicott City, was awarded the Bronze Star for "heroic achievement" in Vietnam.

50 Years Ago (Week of Jan. 30-Feb. 5, 1944):

* The Glenelg Homemakers Club met at the home of Mrs. J. D. Mullinix. The 1944 agenda was presented for discussion, and chairmen were appointed for the following committees: clothing, family relationships, foods and nutrition, home furnishings, home management, music, peace, reading and membership.
