* Union Mills: A resident of Old Hanover Road told state police someone broke into his house and stole three rifles Wednesday. He estimated the value of the firearms and damage to a door and door frame at $1,150.

* Westminster: A Finksburg resident reported to city police that someone stole the hood ornament from his automobile while it was parked at the Crossroads Square Shopping Center on Tuesday. He estimated the loss at $60.

An employee of the Costume Shoppe on East Main Street reported that someone broke into the store and stole several items of undetermined value Wednesday.
