Family Night Concert to feature string quartet

Candlelight Concert Society will present the award-winning St. Lawrence String Quartet at 8 p.m. Saturday in its first Family Night Concert at Howard Community College's Smith Theatre.

The quartet features Geoff Nuttall and Barry Shiffman on violin, Lesley Robertson on viola and Marina Hoover on cello.

The quartet won the Banff International String Quartet Competition and the 1992 Young Concert Artists International Auditions. It was also the Juilliard School's Graduate String Quartet-in-Residence for 1992-93.

Candlelight Concert's first annual Family Night will introduce children age 6 and older to live performances. The quartet will lTC present a program of Mendelssohn, Shostakovich and Schumann.

Refreshments at intermission will include pizza and soda.

General admission is $16; tickets are $13 for seniors and $8 for students and children.
