Sophomore center Daniel Whye scored 21 points as host Mount St. Joseph (7-10, 2-5) upset No. 6 Cardinal Gibbons (16-5, 5-1), 63-60, yesterday.

Trailing, 46-40 after three quarters, the Gaels outscored the Crusaders 23-14 in the fourth quarter.

* Lake Clifton 122, Patterson 72: Shawnta Rogers scored 30 and Reggie Frazier added 26 as host Lake Clifton (10-4) beat Patterson (6-9).

* Perry Hall 57, Dulaney 45:

Jimmy Ellsworth of No. 18 Perry Hall (10-2) led all scorers with 20 points in a Baltimore County 3A-4A game.

* Poly 63, Northwestern 54: John McLean scored 18 points to lead Poly (11-4) past Northwestern (2-5).

Girls basketball

* Western 89, Edmondson 22:

Chanel Wright scored a game-high 19 points to lead No. 1 Western (13-1, 9-0) past visiting Edmondson (3-6, 2-6) in a City-Wide League game.

* Lake Clifton 98, Southern 19: Center Natisha Fergusen scored 28 points and grabbed 29 rebounds in leading Lake Clifton (10-1).

* Poly 70, Forest Park 42: No. 15 Poly (12-2, 7-0) got 17 points from Kelly Logan in beating host Forest Park (3-5, 3-4) in a City-Wide 2A-3A league game.
