Boy fights off knife-wielding robber

February 02, 1994

A 16-year-old boy fought off a would-be robber wielding a knife in Brooklyn Park Monday night.

Police said the boy was at the intersection of Gischel and Gillespie streets at 7:48 p.m. when he was threatened with the knife and ordered to take off his jacket.

The boy refused and the two began fighting. The boy managed to get the knife from the robber, who fled.

Police described the robber as white male, about 18 years old and 6 feet tall. He had a medium build and was wearing a black baseball hat and a Tampa Bay starter jacket.
