POLICE

* Sykesville: A Saddle Drive resident reported to state police vTC that a stereo system, including two speakers, amplifier and an equalizer, plus a radar detector, were stolen from her car Friday.

The resident estimated the combined value of the stolen items at $1,540.

FIRE

* Sykesville: Sykesville firefighters assisted Howard County firefighters at a house fire in the 900 block of High Stepper Trail at 10:31 a.m. yesterday.

The flames were "through the roof" of the house, according to the first firefighters on the scene. Units were out for three hours and 23 minutes, and the damage was extensive, fire officials said.

Firefighters from Sykesville, Gamber and Liberty Road of Baltimore County battled a chimney fire that extended into a house on Stirrup Court at 2:20 a.m. yesterday. According to Sykesville officials, the fire started in the chimney under the floor of the split-foyer home and extended into the basement and around the walls of the living room, causing about $3,500 damage.

Units were out for two hours.

Sykesville firefighters assisted Howard County at a house fire on Monticello Drive at 5:53 p.m. Sunday. They were out for 25 minutes.

The Sykesville fire company responded for a fire alarm sounding in a building on Ridge Road at 5:33 p.m. Sunday.

They were out for five minutes.

Firefighters from the Sykesville station assisted Howard County firefighters at a kitchen fire in a house in the 2700 block Woodridge Road at 11:14 a.m. Sunday.

They were out for 11 minutes.
