Woman robbed in market's lot

February 01, 1994

An elderly woman was robbed of her purse Sunday afternoon as she walked to her car in a supermarket parking lot, county police reported.

Olive Kay Tyler, 83, had just left the Farm Fresh store in the first block of Hammonds Lane at 4:53 p.m. when a woman walked up to her and demanded her purse, according to police.

When Ms. Tyler refused to give it to her, the woman threatened to shoot, then grabbed the purse and drove away in a red Pontiac Firebird with Maryland license plates.

The robber was described as a white female, between 20 and 30 years old, with shoulder-length blond hair and wearing a jean jacket.
