Woman robbed after ATM withdrawal

Howard County police are investigating the armed robbery of a 37-year-old Silver Spring woman who had just withdrawn cash from an automated teller machine in Jessup Friday night.

Police said the woman, who was not injured, had completed a transaction at 7:40 p.m. at the Citizens Bank machine in the 7700 block of Washington Blvd. when an armed man approached. Police said the man ordered the victim to hand over the cash, then fled after taking the money and the victim's car keys.

The robber was described as a black man, 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds and wearing a dark ski cap, a dark nylon jacket and dark pants.

* Jessup: 7500 block of Merrymaker Way: A refrigerator was taken from a house under construction Thursday.

Route 175 and Route 1: A dark green 1971 Buick Skylark with Maryland tags ADK 545 was stolen from a road shoulder Thursday where it had been left as disabled.

* Scaggsville: 6400 block of River Run Road: Someone broke into a house under construction Thursday, but nothing was reported stolen, police said.

* North Laurel: 10200 block of Stansfield Road: Someone attempted to steal a 1984 Chevrolet pickup Wednesday.
