Philadelphia Phillies -- Agreed to terms with 1B Ricky Jordan on a one-year contract.

Pittsburgh Pirates -- Announced that Kent Tekulve has quit his part-time job as a special assistant in the team's marketing and broadcast department. Hired Greg Brown as a full-time broadcaster.

San Diego Padres -- Agreed to terms with P Andy Benes, P Andres Berumen and OF Randy Curtis on one-year contracts.

Seattle Mariners -- Outrighted P Travis Buckley to Triple-A Calgary.

Yakult Swallows (Japan Central League) -- Agreed to terms with OF Jerald Clark on a one-year contract.

Indiana Pacers -- Activated G Vern Fleming from the injury list.

Los Angeles Clippers -- Announced that tonight's game against the New York Knicks will be played at The Pond in nearby Anaheim because of continuing repairs at the Los Angeles Sports Arena after last week's earthquake.

Orlando Magic -- Named Bob Vander Weide president and John Gabriel VP of basketball operations/player personnel.

San Antonio Spurs -- Announced that F Dennis Rodman underwent surgery for a deviated nasal septum and is expected to play Saturday.

Global Sports Management -- Announced formation of Senior Series, a tour for over-50 players who do not qualify for the Senior PGA Tour. Plans call for 15 tournaments, each with a $100,000 purse.

Boston Bruins -- Assigned G John Blue to AHL Providence.

Edmonton Oilers -- Recalled C Tyler Wright and D Brad Werenka from AHL Cape Breton.

Hartford Whalers -- Recalled LW Kevin Smyth from AHL Springfield.

Tampa Bay Lightning -- Agreed to terms with F Aaron Gavey.

Washington Capitals -- Announced that D Brian Curran cleared waivers and was assigned to AHL Portland.
