Two hurt in van crash

Two people in a 1986 Ford Bronco were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital after the vehicle ran off Buffalo Road and into a stream Tuesday.

Faith E. Hitchings, 46, of the 16500 block of Blooms Lane, Mount Airy, told state police that the vehicle skidded on a patch of ice before running off the road. She was admitted to the hospital in good condition, according to a spokeswoman.

Holly F. Knott, 4, of the same address, was treated and released, the spokeswoman said.

Police said the van was on Buffalo Road near Old Bohn Road at 6:45 a.m. when the accident occurred.

* Mount Airy: Mount Airy assisted Frederick County at a house fire on Fingerboard Road at 7:22 a.m. Wednesday. Units were out for 41 minutes.
