Teen hurt in crash at Severna Park High

January 27, 1994

A 17-year-old Severna Park High School student remained in critical condition yesterday at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center after an accident Tuesday morning in front of the school, police said.

Keith D. Pollock of the 100 block of Truck House Road was a passenger in the front seat of a 1987 Toyota Celica when it collided with another car about 7:10 a.m. on Robinson Road near Red Oak Road.

The eastbound car in which Mr. Pollack was a passenger was being driven by Matthew Dominic Piperno, 17, of the 500 block of Pine Field Drive, who police said swerved into the westbound lane to avoid a third car that pulled out from Red Oak Road.

The Celica hit a 1993 Ford Taurus driven by Julian Mary Walterhoefer, 51, of the 100 block of Wild Oak Road in Severna Park.

Mr. Piperno was treated at North Arundel Hospital and released. Ms. Walterhoefer was listed in stable condition at North Arundel yesterday.

Robber takes cash from Pizza Hut

A man who demanded money from a clerk at a Severna Park Pizza Hut Tuesday night got away with an undetermined amount of money, county police said.

A man who witnesses said was wearing a black leather coat and blue jeans walked into the restaurant in the 500 block of Benfield Road about 9:10 p.m. and told the man behind the desk to open the cash register and give him the money inside, police said.

Police could provide no further description of the robber.
