McCarron can't ride Sunday

January 26, 1994|By New York Daily News

HALLANDALE, Fla. -- Suspended Sunday by stewards at Santa Anita, Chris McCarron will not be able to ride Eclipse Award winner Dehere in Sunday's Hutcheson Stakes at Gulfstream Park. It is expected Jerry Bailey will replace McCarron for this race only.

McCarron was handed a five-day careless riding suspension that begins tomorrow. Bailey was aboard Dehere for a public workout Sunday at Gulfstream.

The Hutcheson, normally a minor stop on the road to the Kentucky Derby, is shaping up as one of the best 3-year-old preps in years.
