A man with a rifle walked into the 7-Eleven store in the 7600 block Woodbine Road, said nothing, and walked out with a handful of money about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday.

State police said the night clerk of the convenience store reported that a young white male -- about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with blond hair and wearing a turtle neck sweater pulled up over his nose -- pointed the rifle at the employee and walked slowly toward the cash register.

The clerk opened the register, took out the money and placed it on the counter, according to police reports.

The robber scooped up the money, looked into the cash drawer to satisfy himself that it was empty and fled, police were told.

Investigators did not identify the attendant. The robber ran across a parking lot and escaped with an undisclosed sum, police said.

In another convenience store robbery, a man held up the 7-Eleven store in the 4200 block Ridge Road in Taylorsville about 2:40 a.m. Friday, police said.

Police said that the descriptions of the robbers did not match.
