Landfill update is Thursday evening

The Department of Public Works has rescheduled its public update on the closed Carrs Mill Landfill for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Lisbon Fire Hall, 1330 Route 94.

More than 500 buried drums have been found on the site, according to county officials.

The department has established a public file on the operation that contains records relating to the removal of drums and the environmental assessment of the site.

The file is available for review at the Bureau of Environmental Services, George Howard Building, 3430 Court House Drive, Ellicott City.

* Lisbon: 17000 block of Old Frederick Road: Someone broke the window of a Lincoln Continental Thursday. Someone had broken the taillight of a black Mazda 323 eight blocks away last Tuesday, police said.

500 block of Watersville Road: The windshield of a blue Ford Aeries was shattered Thursday. Someone broke the passenger side window of a Ford Tempo during the same time period, police said.
