Man found dead by road had a heart condition

January 24, 1994

A 52-year-old man found dead early Friday on the side of a road in Severna Park may have suffered a heart attack, according to county police who said the victim was scheduled for a series of tests later that morning.

A northbound motorist spotted the body of Samuel Marion Lanham of the 200 block of Dauntsey Drive about 1 a.m. on a shoulder in the 800 block of Ritchie Highway.

The body was taken to the state Medical Examiner's office in Baltimore for an autopsy.

Police said Mr. Lanham's wife, Nancy, told them her husband was a heart patient who was scheduled for tests later that morning. Police could not explain why Mr. Lanham was walking on Ritchie Highway at 1 a.m.
