The two men charged in connection with a Jan. 8 drive-by shooting in Mount Airy have been released on bail from the Carroll County Detention Center.

David William Doolittle, 29, of the 16000 block of Moss Meadow Way in Mount Airy and Stephen Wayne Knight, 34, of Lawson's Trailer Park in New Market were released last week after posting bail of $35,000 and $7,500, respectively.

The two are charged in the shooting of Brian Keith Dehn, 19, of Catonsville, who was treated at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center and released.

Police say the incident began with three men throwing snowballs at the home of Yvonne Valltos in the 100 block of Ridgeville Blvd. about 2 a.m. Jan. 8.

The snowball throwers left after a confrontation with Ms. Valltos' family.

The shooting occurred when they returned about 11:20 p.m., police said.

Mr. Doolittle and Mr. Knight are both charged with attempted murder, nine counts of assault with intent to murder, one count of assault with intent to maim and one count of assault and battery. The assault-with-intent-to-murder counts include one charge against each suspect for each of the people who were in the house.
