Man frightens gunman away from his wife

January 19, 1994

The husband of a woman being held up at gunpoint near a Brooklyn Park bank Monday night scared the thief away empty-handed, county police said.

Mazie Ann Nadwodny, 48, of Glen Burnie was using an automated teller machine about 8 p.m. at the Signet Bank near the 4100 block of Ritchie Highway when a man threatened her with a handgun and demanded money.

Her husband's appearance surprised the would-be robber, police said, and scared him away. As the would-be robber ran off, he threw what turned out to be a pellet gun to the ground and headed east on Tungsten Street.
